She recommended that I reduce the amount of sleep I got, which was about 12 hours a day, an incredible amount for a boy my age, and that way my dreams although fewer would be more special and more memorable.

My mother just smiled and told me that I shouldn’t worry about my dream time because I had plenty, and that if I dreamt too much, I might get tired of dreaming, and that would be a pity.

I would get so excited sometimes that I could not even fall asleep, and I remember complaining to my mother one night how I was losing valuable dream time because of this.

I enjoyed dreaming so much that unlike the other children my age who wanted to stay up late and who would make a fuss when it was bedtime, I would embrace it.
